Been going to my local TPS for years and it always used to be busy in a Saturday morning serving a lot of other retail customers.
Went in the morning and was told they can no longer serve retail customer. It's a message from head office.
Is anyone still successfully using a TPS.
To be fair I don't know the prices I have been paying all these years are that cheap anyway. They obviously had 2 rates, trade and retail. I just always thought their retail was cheaper than going to main dealer. Used it more on recommendation really that they were better value and then just continued to use out of habit.

Thats a shame.. Interested to know why too.

It's Definately something VW have enforced as my local branch have put big notices up saying no retail customers.

I've found that as soon as you say you're not from a garage, there prices tend to be more or less the same as VW dealers.
I was in a few weeks ago with no issues.

I know the Area Manager for the Sheffield and Chesterfield TPS so if that is the case I will most likely have a word about setting an account up with them.
We used them regular at the garage I was Manager at just around the corner but I left the Motor Trade in 2014, However they still recognise me so have continued to serve me. I went in last week with no issues when I bought my Oil Filter.

It would be interesting to know if this is happening all over the country. It was the derby branch I went in to.

I queried this just a couple of weeks back, as new to Golf GTI and TPS, and most responses on here said it would be ok.
I called my local branch (Poole), and received a very warm reception - no problem not being in the trade , and given a small discount. I bought GTI floor mats and a touch up paint stick, saving about £10 on VW dealer price of around £85, so was happy with that. When I went to collect, there was this massive white board, with individual staff monthly targets, and I even commented "no pressure then?", so I think they need all the business they can get. A silly head office instruction, if that is the case, or maybe you came across a 'jobsworth'.
If it were my business, I'd take the money off anyone!
