Hi peeps
Just had notification from garage that my cam follower as total failed so having to replace the in let cam and fuel pump but he is also saying need to replace the tensioner which is like 380 quid does this sound right

What tensioner, the cam chain tensioner? Thats 100£ from vw.
The adjustor on the exhaust camshaft is around 350 to replace iirc

Just been reading you problem mate no here it is the cam chain tensioner he says but would a blown cam follower cause this sort off problem

If he's saying he can do all that you've stated for £380 parts and labour that's a good price.

No that price off 380 is just for the tensioner mate total bill going to stand around for 1700 quid mate

Nothing cheap there then but not a lot you can do now since the repairer has your vehicle.

The cam chain tensioner is definitely not around 380 quid. The adjustor is, which I why mentioned it.
Perhaps parts of the failed follower has damaged the tensioner

For example I got my cam chain tensioner and the chain for 30 off ebay. Not 100% its genuine though

Unless there is something wrong with the chain and tensioner you dont need to change it.

No not yet still trying to source part
