Hi guys, need help to decide which cat back exhaust to go for,
The milltex non resonated is £ 60 cheaper than the bcs one.
Would like to hear from people who have milltex / bcs on
Which is better performance wise etc.
Thanks

Performance will be comparable or too hard to differentiate, unless someone fully fitted a BCS, did a dyno run then fully fitted a miltek and repeated. Not heard of this being done. I have a miltek, can't fault it, sounds great and obviously the car goes great with it on. And the miltek brand has a great reputation. BCS get good feedback on here also, depends if you want the power valve option they offer. From what I understand it opens the valve when the engine is making boost. So it's quiet at idle etc then sounds louder when you accelerate. Someone with the system will know more.

I have a full Powervalve with their 200 cell cat. Madone is right, basically there's a valve at the rear silencer that is actuated by boost pressure at the inlet manifold. Anything under about 5 psi and the exhaust gasses go through the silencer, then as the boost builds the silencer is bypassed, it essentially becomes a straight-through rear section, and you get full on tone from the exhaust. The benefit of this is that the exhaust is quiet and subtle when you're just rolling around (albeit a deeper sound than the standard exhaust), but then when you plant your foot it really sings. And believe me, it's an incredible noise.
Other things I like about the exhaust - you get some lovely burbles and crackles on the overrun. It's 3" all the way. The quality of the welds is as good as you'll get. The sport cat is 'oversized' to maintain flow. The R32 style system with 'R' tips looks brilliant.
Google Milltek specs and pics for yourself and make your own comparisons - I've come across as a BCS fanboy in past threads, so I'm not going to directly compare them myself in this one...!
Performance - unquestionable. I could immediately feel the extra torque and flow as soon as it was fitted. In fact the clutch started slipping a few weeks after. That's on a Stage 1 R-Tech map. When I get round to having the map tweaked to account for the extra flow it'll produce even more power. As an example, @rashg60 on here gained 23bhp and 44lb/ft (if I remember correctly) going from Stage 1 R-Tech with the standard exhaust to Stage 2 R-Tech and the full Powervalve. That's with no other mods apart from a drop in panel filter that was in the car for the Stage 1 mapping anyway. And if you put the peak numbers to one side, the before and after graphs show how the torque now spreads much wider across the revs.
Best mod I've done.

Ive had both. If there is a choice then go for the BCS.
The Milltek I had on my first Mk5 was great, can't say a bad thing about it, lots of peeps dlag thrm off but they are more than good enough but IMHO BCS are better made and the Powervalve is awesome. I spent 4 years with my Powervalve and it put a smile on my face everytime, will be amongst the first mods going on my new car.

Thanks for the reply guys
I think for the sake of 60 quid I'll go for bcs.
Need to get back in touch with nige as he said there's a few options for the cat back.

If Nig did a full system i would change my full Milltek 2:75" to a bcs full system 3"
-
BCS flow better than Milltek
-
Very happy with my BCS system. Also 90% of people I know with Milltek's have had cracked welds at some point!
-
Got rid of my Milltek which had tailpipes that were bent from factory and bought the BCS and have never looked back....
-
How much is a BCS catback. Already have a DP

Prices are on their website. A forum discount applies to the price advertised.
Around £500 ish I think. Contact Nige too as he is brilliantly helpful.

I'd speak to the above :happy2:

BCS all the way - quality fabrication, top notch service. I wouldn't go anywhere else...

There's only one choice "BCS" I had two exhausts off them, one for a ed30 & one for a golfR...would buy again when I change to a mk7R,a45 amg or s3 saloon nextyear
