Hi there, just brought my first Mk5 Golf and wanted to upload some pics of my progress! Let me know what you think.  :happy2:

When i picked her up

First job was to replace the centre caps with shiny new ones from vw.... the corroded one pictured was the best of the 4 ..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_8991_zpsdhihwchm.jpg&hash=ce462020b22e8b4fa8a3c0bf103d4706e59dd777)

Nice touch 5 for 80p  :happy2:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_8993_zpsfwzrowat.jpg&hash=c27f55b8674a3a984f692e6d593321980781028f)

Took a trip up to Awesome in Manchester and picked up a Nuespeed P flow CAI :
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_8986_zpsa29pphds.jpg&hash=c62bdbc15305c8fc43e050a03f6dd346ac8f9944)
(Need to get my hands on an engine cover to cut up if anyone has one?! Having difficulty locating a second hand one)
Picked up a set of these while i was there:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_8988_zpsi4mmvwcf.jpg&hash=a7487de2a1c90d911e7b246ff7fa466ba46479cf)

Next i installed some Ram-Air ducting from the fog light up into the intake:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_8989_zpswoaxeuej.jpg&hash=66d3d2b63d4c2a9f8ffa60e991b53ae8db974b45)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_8994_zpshuy47uaz.jpg&hash=159531439eec50bf69e9f01958254de8ea78a028)
Will be getting the open fog grills for summer so the hole is potentially only a short term thing.
Keys didn't have emblems on them so put some on!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_8999_zpsjluwdfol.jpg&hash=fb2c281f62513267b313694eac2f90fc475ebf4b)

Got round to cleaning up my black and crusty exhaust tips (still more work to do on these)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_9030_zpsaoy9dicw.jpg&hash=6bed4a7e00dc57eef50444fdeb6af48bd9e9ab71)
Parking sensors on the back right hadnt been repainted red so did that :
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_9029_zpsjxfs5j0l.jpg&hash=dab9f3f2848be463e27261d42af3a9e0945e7c57)

Heko wind deflectors arrived:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_9031_zps4fboczye.jpg&hash=84d5ab20f62a611d2cd7de95d33a0bca8a3b8837)

This is where i'm up to at the moment after some 'paint restoring' red wax from turtle wax. (Good product)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_9028_zpsqtdny847.jpg&hash=f472b0b8f7d50fd5dfad28b81f28003f07a72811)

Wrapped my fogs yellow to see if i like them:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_9049_zpsa1a62ncz.jpg&hash=6fe837d09b7e450128239e2f10149008b55a84e0)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_9047_zpswwer9oqv.jpg&hash=0b40b26f5278784cbfbafb327b9a8df37ad7bf8e)
Next job is fully restoring my headlights as they are heavily corroded!
If anyone has an engine cover for sale please let me know as i'm desperate for one!
Sam

Hey Sam, yes mate, they're showing now  I love the Tornado Red colour - what else have you got planned for her other than tidying up the headlights? Not going for Xenons?

@maxitrol (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=164) Thanks i wasnt aware of that issue! Will keep on top of that.
i fit tyres for a living and see it a lot--Had a customer last week who had put them metal caps on to his tmps valves but they had siezed on and the only way is to replace the tmps sensors at £100 each so total of £400 for valve caps that cost £4 of ebay

Welcome to the forum. As above xenons would set the front end off. There is a set in the classifieds at a bargain price  :happy2:

@maxitrol (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=164) wow... what a nightmare. They might have to come off then ...  :sad1:
@samx300 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=11240) Me too, never been a fan of red cars but this caught my eye! As you say would love a set of xenons but money is tight as i'm a student so they might have to wait and ill just whack in some bulbs for now! Other than that planning to chop up an engine cover to fit back on, get a mk6 or late mk5 badge and get her remapped! Need to check my dv first though.

Absolutely hate a naked engine so finally managed to get hold of an engine cover from a broken Gti to chop up. (For 20 quid which i thought was a bargain)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2FIMG_9065_zpspz3tvhgn.jpg&hash=028f43fb8d5778cc156e2c60a3d29f00807d0a94)
Still may take of that bit on the right hand side to reveal the intake but not sure yet.
Before and After:

Very happy with how the front ends looking now!

I've not seen the engine cover like that before, going over the intake pipe - it looks really good. I'd be inclined to keep it, as it looks part of the design/engine cover.

@Gmac (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=15788) Thanks for your comment!

@dom069 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9839) Yes mate different grades of wet and dry then buffed up with a Meguires wheel with there clear plastic polish. Really impressed with how they turned out. They were an advisory on its last MOT because they were so bad but they definitely wont be this time i'm sure.

Finally got round to updating this :
Changed my diverter valve from a rev b to a rev g. This thing was destroyed and causing major boost loss and annoying noises! So much more powerful now and sounds better..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2F13281787_10209963833801271_1616134657_n_zps89481rub.jpg&hash=b484ff251b7895b714577a78b1f4e6617cdacff9)

Next fitted some eibach lowering springs i picked up from @bigeyd (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=3745), sitting a lot nicer now and more firm through the corner.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fah87%2FSamuele_Gunnella%2F13250492_10209963833281258_782676924_n_zpswrlamnlb.jpg&hash=609493d1975fe7f4c662cf5d6c3efa6bbfad326d)

@samiul11 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9775) I cant really compare mate because i had a f*cked dv valve when i was running the neuspeed and that meant the noises were insanely loud and low boost. All i can say is that the neuspeed is prettier in the bay! Ramair makes some nice noises and has heat shield around the (massive) filter.

Finally got round to updating this :
Changed my diverter valve from a rev b to a rev g. This thing was destroyed and causing major boost loss and annoying noises! So much more powerful now and sounds better..

Next fitted some eibach lowering springs i picked up from @bigeyd (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=3745), sitting a lot nicer now and more firm through the corner.

Absolutely brilliant, no complaints other than it doesnt come with the double adapter for the radio so signal isnt that great sometimes.. ive just been too lazy to get the adaptor!

Good updates! I'd advise getting hold of a 2nd hand genuine R32 rear, it'd be guaranteed to fit without hassle, and if you check ebay they're often available for much less than forum prices. I got mine for 150 quid. The ebay copies probably are too good to be true in most cases!

Any reason you're going for a 3.5" downpipe rather than 3"? As far as I know, unless you're going further than k04, 3.5" might be overkill. Might be worth speaking to Niki at R-Tech about that. And I'd really recommend adding an uprated fuel pump to the list before you get it mapped. They make a big difference.

Lovely part of the country you're in by the way. I go through Aberystwyth when I visit my parents. They're just down the coast road before Fishguard.

Put my old grille back on once id given it a good clean up and 'back to black' along with some standard plates for the mean time until i get some new ones made up.

Also my downpipe snapped off at the turbo flange whilst on the motorway so i did the sensible (and actually ALOT cheaper) thing and fitted a 3" decat downpipe. Sounds brilliant! Eml is on though and it seems to be using a lot of fuel so need it mapped asap.

Dropped the oil on the weekend and replaced with shell quantum 5w40 along with a k+n oil filter. Pollen filter also replaced. Got a set of NGK iridiums to go in this weekend along with swapping over my fuel filter to a new one. Then we be stage 2 mapping next week!

@sean.smithy94 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=15225) Our maps for the Mk5 GTI come in at 250hp, feels a hell of a lot more punchy and smooth. Returning some better mpg too which is a bonus!

What's the difference between the grill you bought and the standard? I might be thick as I can't tell the difference!
