Title: Painting centre console upper section?

Can the vents be split from the upper section of the centre console without wrecking them? It looks like 2 parts connected with tabs, but are they welded together?

Did you work this out?  Had a look the other day while swapping the head unit, but the 4 clips under the vents looked like they weren’t going to move
