So I finally took the plunge and decided to get the golf booked in with the chaps are R-Tech!
I should have a ITG maxogen Intake and a pre-cat delete complete by the time I get there!
Cannot wait!
-
I'm sure it will go well @fazi123 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9745) need the precat delete doing myself but don't have the know how to do it!
-
Cheers bro! @shoaybmakda (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=12148)
I'd love to say I'm doing the pre-cat delete myself, but I'm going to pay somebody or a garage to do it. I do need to find one to do it though!
Oh and I've changed my booking to the 4th of June - should give me a bit more time to get it sorted!

Rich at Dynodaze next door to R-Tech would do this for you.
He did a fair amount of work prepping my car for Stage 2+ at R-Tech. (Helix Clutch with new DMF, Fitted my 3" decat downpipe & fabricated this to my BCS Sports Cat Back and a smoke test to check for any boost leaks)
Very reasonably priced and i'd definitely recommend him. Im sure a few other people on here have used Rich for various work. Just depends how local you are to Hinckley I guess and he certainly knows his way around the TFSI motors :happy2:

thanks @ed30Lewis (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10946) :happy2:
I've just given them a ring - but I'm booked in for a 9.30am slot with R-tech... and I'd be coming up from London so I'd have to go up a week or so before to get it done.
I've got a bit of time, so if I have to, then I'd just go the weekend before! :)
Appreciate the recommendation !

No worries :happy2:
If you're in London then it would be easier for you to get this done at AKS Tuning in Bedford as they are closer to you than Dynodaze. Im in the West Midlands myself, so have no idea on any other specialists down that way. Thats assuming you want someone with a good rep working on your car :rolleye:
-
Where in London are you?
-
@Paradox1 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9564) I'm in Ilford mate. Where abouts are you?

I ended up taking your advice! I went over to AKS over the weekend and had my Pre-Cat removed. Alex also changed my PCV / DV to the latest revisions! Also managed to pick up my new Millers oil!
Thanks for your help!

No problem mate, glad you're happy with it :happy2:
You will have to post up your results after she's been mapped :driver:
-
@fazi123 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9745) how is it now with the precat removed?

Hey @shoaybmakda (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=12148)
The car sounds a bit more meatier when accelerating, and the dsg burps sound a little louder too! I'm hoping it'll be worth 10ish hp when I go over to R-tech too! I haven't noticed it being any faster, but I'm not one to rag my car around these London streets!
-
Anybody else popping down there tomorrow?

Nice! I bet it feels good! haha - the in gear acceleration is immense now... I get to 100 without even trying (on a private runway ofcourse :P) - it's actually scary how much faster it is!

@fazi123 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9745) do you get any wheel spin driving off from first?
-
@shoaybmakda (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=12148) I can spin it in 3rd too if I want lol! Only if I floor it though, not when driving normally. Also it may have something to do with the crap tyres I have one t the moment...
-
@fazi123 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9745) yeah that's the only thing that's putting me off doing a remap - the wheel spin you get when you put your foot down. My brother in law @Gtiene (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=15282) has a similar issue in his GTI but we weren't sure who did his remap so not sure if it's related to specific tuners or not
By the way hope you don't mind me asking - how much did your timing chain cost to get it sorted?
-
@shoaybmakda (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=12148) pm'd you bro!

Rtech can do Linear throttle mapping so it doesn't make it so peaky.
You could also benefit from a anti lift kit aswell which is supposed to reduce wheelspin
