Had the car about 6.5 years now and never bothered to wax or polish it, just a normal good clean.
Thankfully someone i know had just set up a detailing business so i thought i'd put his skills to good use, i'm very happy with the results as the car has never looked or felt so good.
After about a full 9 hour day in quite cold gusts he's attention to detail was spot on, then thankfully the sunshine broke out for the final pics, sadly all were taken before the final product was applied as i had to go to work but still looks awesome.
FYI hes based around Medway/Tonbridge/Maidstone areas of Kent

Beautiful. Can't beat a dbp R32. That shot with the reflection of the tree in the bonnet shows how good a job he's done.

Must admit when i was reviewing the pics i thought to myself that was by far the best pic of all of them, the bonnet was always quite dull after my washes, i've never seen gleaming paintwork before. wish it would last years.
-
Great job,do R32's come in any colours beside DBP
-
Looks cracking! The peelers look really good too! Are they 18or 19"?

I do that on an average day with my hand polish :signLOL:
Where are the ops sensors fitted as I can't see the front ones?.
-
I sneakerly removed them with photo shop as at the time of taking the pictures the car wasn't 100% finished and had Polish in the holes.

:signLOL: nice car though :happy2:
I used to polish wax my uno turbo every three days when the crap used to gather up the rear end from the 4" exhaust :stupid: turtle wax and I didn't even know what I was doing because wax is a protective coat and I thought it was polish
-
Looks excellent, cant beat a freshly detailed car
-
Those wheels suit it so well
-
Cheers guys, much appreciated, just got to keep it that way now.
@Gmac there 19's
-
I'm going go for original turtle wax as I think it's the best thing for car paint work and I've used it before so know what it does now :stupid: protects and keeps the shine :signLOL:

Woah there. Things have moved on a bit.
Autoglym Super Resin Polish then a good wax, Autoglym HD is very easy to use.
Use microfibres.
I guarantee you'll get twice the finish and protection that you would with Turtle Wax.

@AJP (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=11926) what wax everyone using?. :signLOL: I'm an old timer so pardon me :indifferent:
I have micro fibre cloths lime green blue

You can go silly with wax, but the Autoglym HD stuff I mentioned is excellent. £40 a tub which lasts ages. Easy on and off. Mix of carnauba and synthetic.
But the finish after the wax will only be as good as the finish you attain after the polish. Autoglym SRP is very good. Contains fillers so works on microscopic scratches that dull paintwork. It can get chalky, so microfibres help.
Better still would be a machine polish.
Then seal it up with the wax.

My dad uses a brush on the end of a hose to wash his A4 cabriolet :slap:
-
I've used autogylm super resin and it's amazing and easy to apply on and off two years back on the tt and it came out like new and did last for ages as kept on getting compliments on how the car was shinning all the time and I didnt even wash it for a few months and had very minimal scratches on it but living in London and using these fecked up car washes doesn't help with black cars and I've noticed many fresh scratch marks over the bonnet mainly and one on the roof today from the last time. :sad1:
Can't afford to pay £40 for a polish right now sadly so may just get a bottle of super resin and see how that goes and a cheapo wax too. :ashamed:

As long as whatever wax you put on top of the SRP does it justice.
There's probably waxes for a quarter of that price, that might do a decent job. I haven't used one to recommend though.
Only reason I went for the HD stuff is that it was stacking up very well in reviews against much more expensive stuff. And you get lots in the pot. I've had it for a year and I'm not even halfway through it. It's very good value.

Followed up with being dried with a very old shammy leather.

I'll have to see what I can spare as summer may come soon and I hate looking at a dirty car. had loads of bird muck on it today so took it straight for a wash and it came out shiny black again but I see scratches :mad:Followed up with being dried with a very old shammy leather.
That's bad as I used to do that too :signLOL:

I also used to do it. Now the thought of it makes me cringe.

I've never owned a black car @r5gtt because I've seen how hard it is to keep them looking clean. They need effort. Good products make it a bit easier to maintain a good finish so get your hand in your pocket and treat it to a bit of tlc! Weather's picking up soon so no excuse.
Once I've done mine with SRP and HD it only needs a quick wash and it comes up like glass. Thats lasts for a few months. That's the beauty of a good wax. If you didn't use one you'd forever be polishing it because the polished finish doesn't have any protection and it'd be a false economy.

No chamois anymore :happy2: just micro fibre cloths like AJP said as I've been using for years now. the guys at the dealers always give me free ones :signLOL:

I understand buddy, look at my signiture of the tt and that's not been washed for a month as I never have the time but it shines gloss black and stays that way untill the weather changed or a bird crap on it
