Title: DIY - Homemade Burger
Post by: rich83 on April 22, 2016, 04:26:05 pm
Before we start. You need to use the best quality beef mince you can find. DO NOT use bog-standard supermarket mince. At the very least buy there Finest/Extra special steak mince. Preferably get the mince from a good quality butcher.

You will need....

Directions

PREP

Weigh out about 250g of beef...

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Frich%2Fimg%2FFood%2FBurger%2520DIY%2FIMG_7522.jpg&hash=2076fb6e5443ef53c04f19f398b32a230332c5ec)

Put it in a bowl and add some salt and pepper. Put in quite a bit of salt. The more the better :-)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Frich%2Fimg%2FFood%2FBurger%2520DIY%2FIMG_7524.jpg&hash=11f4fc8a1b834c83a7f9e5efc4a64251c09d40f5)

Mix it carefully. Dont work it too much otherwise it will go a funny texture.

Roll it into a ball on top of a square of baking paper

Place the other sheet on top.

Press it down to form the burger shape. It should be about 2cm thick, maybe just a little more.

Press your thumb gently in the middle just to make a dent to help cooking.

The mince needs to be a blend of pork and beef, and you missed off a very key ingredient - dry cure oak smoked bacon!

Otherwise, a good effort  :congrats:

Pork in a beef burger..... not in my kitchen mate  :P

I thought about doing bacon, but when you've got ridiculously good beef mince you don't need it.

Yeah it was good, next time better quality mince probably butcher mince. Surprised how nice it was considering the lack of ingriedients. Previously made burgers with eggs, onions and herbs etc. Much better keeping it simple.

Yeah that's true. If you use good mince then you don't really need anything else.
