No one makes one dude, I gave up after a year and made one based on the Revo intakes

Really like the look of yours mate ... how did you do it? Do you have a template
-
I did do somewhere yeah. Just made bits out of cardboard till it all fit then cut it out of 2mm metal and pop riveted it and bent it all into shape! :happy2:

Not trying to P1ss on your parade but would ti be more affective if the heatshield was aiming towards the cone filter for a direct air feed?
-
In the process of making one now...agreed you need to make a prototype out of something before making it. I have the pre-fit bit made and some dimensions, but need to get in and burn it out and form it.
-
I get what your saying.
You are restricted in a few ways because the parts underneath the shield are limited to where you can attach the shield to.
The filter is very right and the feed off the grill is very left so you struggle to get Good angle and still be able to screw it to the oem position on the front panel.
The height and slope of the bonnet makes it easier to put the shield where I have it.
For the 45mins it took to make it'll do for me :happy2:
I sprayed it through the he front panel with my airline and cold air defo meets the filter as it is

@ROH ECHT (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=3794) Im not very good at that sort of thing  any chance i could be cheeky and ask for your template?

He's a bit far away.......
RamAir sell parts of their intake separately, including the heatshield - To be honest you'd be better off buying their whole kit, but have a look at the design and contact them to order
-
It's a shame as the mk1 tt worked better without the heat shield tried and tested by a few mappers with various filters shields back to back and the s2000 cone without a heat shield came out top. the mk5 must be totally different due to intake air temps
-
Numbers on a dyno dont translate to realworld heat soak and performance loss though. It's not so much how much you gain by having one, more how much/how quickly you'd lose without one.
Mk5 have good filter placement with plenty of airflow from the front, something the 20vt engine cars domt
-
The heat shields and filter kits look really nice under the bonnet but as mentioned to me by you and others it does nothing for performance. I still bought one and got fed up of it after causing lots of suction and power loss but it smd I'd look nice sitting there all shiny and new :sad1:

@r5gtt (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=11199) power loss??
also noticed youve put a ramair filter on instead of the neuspeed one.... was thinking of doing this myself did you notice any difference in sound??
-
@gunnellgti (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=15739) yes is was mega mega loud. sold it ages ago as car was behaving badly changing gears late revving high knocking the pints down kind of thing and I wasn't impressed. now after nearly 7 months I find that the dv was split badly and the guy's on here did say it could have been a split dv but never had the chance to check it untill yesterday. I'm not 100% but it may well have been the cause but others have had similar power loss but maybe not the same as mine so can't say.
again I really liked the sound of the combination I had
Hope that helps.
