Title: Wheel spacers Pros & Cons
Post by: Bozz on May 06, 2016, 02:40:43 pm
Hi everyone, I've been reading things about wheel spacers and I'm not 100% sure, I've been told 12mm on the front and 15mm on the rear should be ok, all info will be appreciated

Hi mate, you seriously want to be thinking about another car cover and this time tie it up tight as bird poo is some acidic sh*** and will damage the paint work if not attended to asap  :scared:

I know it bonds to the car like glue and as you're living where the birds drop atom bombs I'd say keep some water and wipes to hand too.

I run 12mm on the back of my ed30 with OEM pescara's. It does rub if I have 2 passengers in the back but only over harsh bumps/potholes. (not very often i have passengers in the back so i can live with that)

Also run 8mm on the front which did rub over harsh bumps and very hard cornering. I did the screw delete mod in the front arches and it no longer rubs now. 10mm at a push on the fronts IMO.

Lowered on H&R Springs

I had a full set of eibach pro springs fitted a little while ago and with what you have said I think I'll give the spacers a miss, Thanks mate

I know it's a little more money but I'm tempted just to put a set of 18" on, But still unsure with having the eibach pro springs on would it make the ride a bit hard ?

What car are you referring to here?

Im assuming an MK5 GTI with 17" Monza's?

By going up an alloy size you will need to lower the profile of your tyre, so yes. It will make things a little harder than what it is currently.

Spacers do the job nicely anyway, sits lovely on 12mm on the back but rubs on the rare occasion with passengers. As mentioned 10mm would be the most i'd go on the front.

My two pennies worth  :happy2:

Great two pennies  :happy2:

Bozz won't have any issues unless he's got a few extra birds   sea gulls sitting in the back.
