Title: Rear Window Squeeks When Opening/Closing
Post by: lukemk5gti on May 09, 2016, 03:07:18 pm
Noticed my window is squeeking when closing and opening.

Anything I can oil or grease without having to remove door skin?

Occasionally my front windows hit a patch of resistance and go back down again instead of up!  Common problem.  Soaking the rubber window channels with Silicon spray (not WD40) usually fixes that one, so squeaks would probably be solved by the same method.

As pudding says silicone spray will resolve this issue  :happy2:

I do actually have a couple cans of silicone spray there.

So I just soak the felt like rubber strips on the window bottom? Do I have to rinse or wipe them after?

No lukemk5gti just soak them and you're done. try feed it with a straw down the runners as I did when I first bought my gti and had this issue.

Yeah that /\.   Spray loads of it into the 'U' section rubber channels and wind the windows up and down a few times.   It's messy but nothing a microfiber cloth won't wipe off afterwards!
