Finally...feels like I've been waiting for ages for my stage 1 remap.

DSG. £20 simota panel filter is the only modification.
207bhp and 215lbft as standard. Now running at 250bhp and 301lbft. Not too shabby!

Can't beat the old drive home from Hinckley.

Can't beat the old drive home from Hinckley.
I was exhausted after driving down there after working a night. Plodded there and back at 60mph and then got excited about my massively improved fuel consumption following the map! Oh yeah, some more power too.

Wait til you get a chance to try it out properly. Brilliant maps. Stage 2 for me in a few weeks...

Literally just got back in from a 25 mile loop around the peak district. It's fair to say that it's transformed the car. No missing that swell of torque at 3k!

Congrats mate. I'm sure your overwhelmed with the new found power.
Whats R-techs availability? I want to get booked in too.
I'm pretty sure my car was mapped when I brought it as I'm sure a stock 20T isn't as eager as mine. I want to get it dynoed, first

I think best case you're looking at a one month wait. They'll do a dyno run before mapping it. They also took plenty of time to check that the car was healthy before mapping it.

Off there on the 7th June, can't wait! :jumping:
Good figures with just a panel filter, bonus about the improved MPG too!

Booked well into late June! emailed them the other day.

They usually have a 4-5 week wait. You might be better booking into a local rolling road if it's just to see if it's mapped.

yeah mate that's what I was thinking, I'm inbetween installing a few parts each weekend so not an ideal time to visit Rtech until everything is fitted and setup properly(meth/fmic etc)
I think AMD has a dyno day coming up this month for like 20-30quid for 2-3 runs but I'm not sure how accurate there dyno figures are. 390bhp on a standard map must look cool on the dyno sheet but not convincing lol

I've had the stage 1 map on for 11 days now. Just wanted to post an update now I've had a chance to use it in a variety of circumstances.
In short, it's great. The urge that I was badly missing since selling my MK3 Focus ST is back in my life. Without a doubt, it's not the headline BHP that's doing it for me, rather the torque. It doesn't come on boost quite as early as the focus did, but it pulls so hard from around 2600rpm. I'm not one for ragging my car round all the time, but when I want to make progress, it's great being able to ride the wave of torque. Just as useful on a B road as it is on the motorway.
For anyone who is considering going with the RTECH stage one...stop thinking and get booking. Just budget for a brake upgrade while you're at it. :-)

Oddly enough I am looking at brake upgrade as well! Thanks for sharing. Has your MPG improved?
What brakes are you looking at?

Yes, the fuel consumption has improved. For some reason, around town my car was abysmal before the remap. Around 17mpg, but would do 35mpg on a motorway run. It now does around 24mpg around town and just managed to hit 40mpg on a long motorway run.
I've fitted Golf R brakes already. Miles better than the standard items although I am planning on doing a couple of track days and there have been mixed reports of how well they'll stand up to that. Can't fault them on the road though.

Cheers for that. I don't want to ruin the car if you get what I mean. I need to trawl through some threads on here.
