Hi there, I've got a MK5 GTI and am thinking of getting a R tech stage one done- the car is absolutely standard. The wife uses it to take our son to school so doesn't want any thing noisy, i.e no induction kit, exhaust, etc. :sad1:
I've read that getting the pre cat removed is a good idea to let the thing flow better but how much nosier will it be? (The wife already says the standard car is noisy!) If it is then I won't remove it. So basically here's what I'm asking you guys..
1 - How noisy is the car after pre cat removal? Does it sound like the exhaust's blowing or drone on a run?
2 - Is it still worth/ advisable getting the stage 1 done if I don't remove the pre cat?
3 - If I do decide to get it done, can R tech do it for me on re map day?
Cheers for your help!

Had mine done and exhaust sounds a little bit deeper but nothing intrusive.

I would say yes go for it. Removing pre cat just makes it breathe a bit better and releases a few more ponies

No. Get it done at AKS or any other reputable VAG specialist beforehand. I believe Dynodaze next to Rtech can help out with it if you book in morning and then have map done later in day at Rtech.

R Tech don't do this but the neighbour a parent does it for you.
