hi,
I thought I would drop a message on here as I am on the look out to buy a mk5 gti and I am seeking advice.
I currently own a mk5 gt tdi and love it, however the yen for a gti is getting stronger & stronger.
What sort of money can you pick a decent one up for these days? (top end of my budget is £5 500-£6 000) Can you get a decent one for this?
Have many folk gone from owning the gt tdi to the GTI on here?
what are the running costs like? (obviosly a GTI is going to be thirstier then the gt tdi) but what sort of milage to people get out of a tank?
thanks in advance!

Like with most things, if you are not in a rush then you can get some good deals.
I paid £4300 for a 5 door, black GTI at 96k miles. The car was pretty much standard though with no xenons, leathers or anything. It all depends what you want.
I probably do around 130 miles a week and that uses around a quarter of a tank, most of that is city driving though averaging around 25mpg. I don't try really try and keep the mpg down though. I fill with Tesco99 if it's of any relevance.

I picked up mine for £3500 2 years ago with 130k on it. High mileage, but well looked after and high spec with xenons, leather, multifunction etc.

There are petty to choose from so don't be hasty and do all the relevant checks before you part with your money. :happy2: GL

I would have thought 4k Would get you a basic manual with fsh and miles around 70-80k. That's what I got at Xmas and to be honest I think the gti prices are over the top but just an opinion. On fuel my stage 2 on average is only a few mpg worse than my mates stage 1 bmw 123d
