So the ESP light came on, and looked down and the button was illuminated, can't turned it off.
Quick google suggests it may be the ABS pump? Is this likely the case? How much is this to fix ?
The car actually feels lot more fun to drive/quicker without the ESP on.... it it okay to drive it for long periods/time with it off.

You need to get it scanned , it more than lightly a wheel sensor , pump would be worse case and hundreds to buy new

thanks, will look to do this, anyone know any decent places in West London ?

Sure you can't turn it off?
Hold the button for 5 seconds whilst stationary?
Scan with VCDS more than likely though!

Also check the abs fuses in the fusebox in the engine bay. Think its the 2 green ones at the top right (look in your ownerd booklet thing and it tells you in there) had a fuse cause me some problems a few months ago had it scanned etc all pointed to abs pump.
I decided to check the fuses and bam on one of the fuses there was bubbling/melting on one of the blades. Definetely check these or get someone to do it for you as i all garages i went to said it wouldnt be that and it was lol. :happy2:

This was what mine looked like £3 for a new one from Halfords. the fuse itself wasn't even blown that's the odd thing.

I remember my mech telling me something like the abs system runs off resistance. So could explain why you had a fault.
I'm no professional so could be chatting out my ass. Just an idea

Sounds about right, im just glad I actually looked rather than ordering the pump and giving it to them, then once they've replaced it telling me it was a fuse!

Could be a brake pressure sensor fault, fairly common and its part of the pump but you can get a repair kit form vw for about £260 :pomppomp:

Thanks for all the replies, will take a look at the fuse later, fingers crossed it's that!

Thanks, checked and they look fine, also double checked light wouldn't go off from standstill with engine on and holding button for 5 seconds.
So sounds like its likely the more expensive option which is annoying!
