Dear All,
I was interested to know if anyone has done this upgrade to the rear...using the fitting kit in the link below..

Does the OEM master cylinder cope with this setup and 6 pot Z18 on the front ? my gut feeling is not !!
any thoughts or feedback would be good...

I'd argue 18z and stock rears are going to be a bit beyond the stock mc. You can upgrade to the RS3/TTRS mc but I think you need to change the servo. And seek expert advice regarding that; from what I've learned it's quite possible to get it very wrong.

Thanks, but just to clarify my car is a R32...so i dont know the different between the MC of mine and the RS3... ??

Your mc is the same as a GTI mc. A few early GTIs got a slightly smaller mc.
From everything I've seen, 18z on a GTI is just about possible, but at the edge of the limits of the mc.

I have the 18Z at the front and R32 brakes at the rear. The MC is the same as the R32. The pedal feel is great and I can put all my weight in the pedal, it doesn't go to the floor, the car just brakes really fast if I do that on track. Not that safe to do that heavy braking on the road if you have someone from behind. lol
Doing the math I don't think it would be advisable to fit the 4-pot rear brakes without upgrading the MC but you can try to find the feedback from others with the rears as well. With just the 18Z fronts you can find a lot of good feedback. Although I have found a feedback from someone who seemed to be knowledgeable stating that fitting the full setup is needed to balance the rear while under heavy braking.

Ok thanks, thats good to know... i would be interested to hear from anyone how is running them on the rear...
plus the RS3 MC upgrade...does anyone know the parts numbers required... ??

TTRS master cylinder upgrade - The facts.
Doesn't work on all cars. The first off the line cars (2004) used a different master and servo along with a different brake pedal switch. Later cars (2006 onwards) changed to an external switch which is the same style as the TTRS master. Its the later style of master than can be changed for the TTRS. But its not just a straight swap as the brake lines are in different positions.
So this where we have a full kit that fits the later style masters. The kit includes the TTRS master, TTRS reservoir, a link pipe to use the stock location lines, and a new longer pin to hold the reservoir to the new master.
