Hi guys, i wondered if i could have a bit of advice from a few of the better informed members.
Ive got a RNS510 in my car with a fiscon Bluetooth kit, which i love. Now, i might be wrong but i dont think i can use a Ipod MDI kit if ive got that? you can only use one MDI input right?
I have a factory Ipod installed at the factory in my car, but i guess this isnt the MDI ipod kit?
Another thing...what input does the reversing camera use? and would that interfere with my bluetooth?
The set up i want is:
RNS-510 plus Reversing camera, Bluetooth (be it OEM or my Fiscon kit) and full ipod kit (track names on screen etc)
I also wouldnt mind things like speech recognition?
thanks guys!

The RVC wont interfere with your bluetooth kit. RVC uses a connector which slots into the bottom left plug seen here.

Jay the only reason you cant use the MDI with the Fiscon is because the fiscon takes up some of the pin out on the quad lock but if you have a Skoda/VW bluetooth you can have the MDI aswell 2 different plugs in the quadlock.
And has Dave said the RVC uses a different socket to the quadlock altogether.

The MDi uses the Aux In connection.

You shouldn't have any problems connecting the RVC, MDI and Fiscon to the RNN 510
Take a look at this thread http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4207134 (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4207134)

I have the fiscon Bluetooth, VAG MDI and Rns510, and it works great v

Oh awesome. Right guys, if I had the iPod in for the rcd 300, what bits of the Mdi kit would I need? Also, will it charge an iPhone 3gs?
-
The MDI and IPOD cable is what you'd need. And yes it charges the IPhone, but always comes up with the 'not compatible' message, and do you want to put it in airplane mode, but works absolutely fine. Sometimes when you plug it in, it pauses every 3 seconds or so, but just unplugging in and plugging it back in sorts that. I have my cable coming out of my ashtray area in front of the gear lever, just looking for an IPOD lead extension cable, as the VW one is quite short.
Really pleased with it and the sound is great through the standard speakers :happy2:

Thanks for that Oli. Any ideas of costs of what I'd need? I've see. Dsg wagen sell a kit on eBay for 150. That goes in the glovebox but I want mine in the armrest where my dock already is. So do I just need the loom from the back of the rns and an iPod cable?

JPC, it doesnt have to go in the glovebox. You can have it wherever you like. So just route the cable through to the armrest with an extra extension cable that VW supply (pm me and I'll find you the part number).
The armrest aka older MDI variant is only really for those people who have/had the VW CD changer built in.

How much space is in the little cubby Pazz?
Enough for a 2.5 GB hard drive in a caddy of some kind.

Good question hedge but I've not got the one shown above. Cameluk should be able to help I believe he has one.

IN that pic above, would the iPhone slot in the whole rather than using that lead?

On't t'other end of lead. (yorkie accent style)
-
Ey? What I meant was where would I dock my phone?

On t'other end of the lead.
You just need t' correct lead for t'iphone.
-
Right so rather than my phone slotting into a plug right at the bottom of the hole, the Phone has a lead in which connects to the same port as shown above?

Thats my understanding. You can also buy a lead with a USB connection. So 250GB shock proof HDD = all your music.

There are a selection of leads depending on your application.

Sorry to revive this thread, but just wanted to say a big thanks to Pazz :notworthy: for coming through with some very helpful part numbers, for retro-fitting the MDI. As I saw in another thread I am crazy enough to have retro-fitted the CD changer arm-rest, without a CD changer so I currently have a large hole under my arm-rest  and after buying the MDI off of DaveB I needed the cable entension and the air-ducting for the rear vents. To save anyone else needing to bother Pazz for the same numbers details below:
Extension cable for MDI interface 000 051 447
CD Changer Air Duct: Part Number 1K0 864 255C
These part-numbers are for arm-rest 1K0 863 323A 71N
:congrats:
