Title: Lock nut lol

Im stating this with the most embarrassment question ever

We moved house but I remembered putting the lock nut in its place but today its missing.

How can I get it off?

you'll need special socket 12 sided I think. It's a common size so most decent tyre shops including Kwik Fit should have them.
Or just buy the bit from your local auto factors spares shop. or buy a cheap set and get the locking nut with them.

If your meaning the alloy wheel one, if it's the standard vw one you could either go to the dealer and see if they can match it or as I did, count the number of splines in the bolt and see if you can find one on eBay. The one that came with my car was 15 spline but I needed a 13 spline one ( I think).
