Title: G85 steering angle sensor incorrect
Post by: v4rley on June 04, 2016, 08:42:48 pm
My steering angle sensor is reading -22.4 so won't let me do the basic setting to eliminate my tracking control permanently off. Would this issue be resolved with tracking or do i need to remove the steering wheel and sensor and then centre the wheel and put the sensor back?

Also is a traction control permanently of (illuminated on dash) an MOT faluire?

Yes it's an mot failure when light illuminated.
Get your tracking sorted and thay should resolve the TC light if tracking is seriously out?.

Have you hit a kirb or bushes worn out to the effect that tracking has gone out?.

Only thing I did was messed about taking my cluster out be trying a set of newer mk6 clocks, because I wanted to see them illuminated.

Did have the tracking looked at today and it was out +4.. But getting new tyres so they advised I waited for them first.

looked at?. They should have corrected it really but as you're having tyres fitted you may as well wait now.
The angle sensor has probably popped up due to the new cluster being fitted. Usually the light will go off after a drive but also have you removed the steering wheel?.

Don't mention it. They seem annoyed my tyres were nearing the end of life and wasn't prepared to pay their prices. Anyway.

Yeah have many a fiddle with clusters over the years and the lights have alway reset but not this time. Haven't had the steering wheel off. Guess I'll have to get the tracking sorted and assess from there

Do you know if the non traction is a MOT faluire? Some viechles at work have them illuminated not working but pass fine, but Google says otherwise  :scared:

It's definitely a fail if the light has illuminated on the dash so no idea how the cars at work are passing wink wink  :signLOL:
If it's not working as no light in dash it should be fine.

Just to say I was being a right tw@t. When doing the basic setting I didn't do it as though box 2 had to bee +/- 1.5. Actually need to look that box 1 to say ok which it did. So several hours later and stripping the wheel and various items several times it's fixed  :driver:
