Title: Refitting Pinch Clip - Gear Stick Replacement
Post by: lukemk5gti on June 05, 2016, 03:31:53 pm
I know a cable tie can be used but if I want to refit a new pinch clip, how do people secure them? Is it just a case of squeezing the crap out of them with a pliers?

Part number handy to anyone please

If you mean the O ring ear clips   http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LARGE-8-NAIL-REMOVER-PULL-BALL-CLAW-PINCER-PLIERS-Carpenter-Pinch-Pin-Lever-/191131312728  Nip between the ears and the skull
EDIT  Not toooooo tight as the plastic your pinching onto is fragile

The clips are called double ear clamps.
You can use side cutters otherwise known as wire cutters to some.

I think luke already has the tool to close this clamp - the pliers used for closing the clamp on a cv joint gaitor?

@Peskyjones (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=11854) you're right, I did use it for the CV and had a feeling it was the same tool but wanted to confirm....

Unfortunately I broke the cheap eBay one so I'll buy another one now in preparation!
