Does anyone have a diagram with the exact location and measurements for refitting the GTI badge on the tailgate?
I could do it by eye but I'm a perfectionist!
-
Check Google pictures and go with that.

I already have a decent one but I'm an anal bast**d and need exact measurements!

Hold on, I'll find it on ELSAWIN. Definitely worth investing in for the goldmine of information it gives you.
Oh, never mind, here you go! http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,4111.0.html (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,4111.0.html)

Thanks mate, that should satisfy my OCD! What's ELSAWIN? Is it bad that I thought of the film Frozen when I read it?! Lol

How sad :slap: lol

I'm the same! Nothing worse than when you're following a car and the badge is miles out. Stevie Wonder job.

Come on guys it's not rocket science ffs :signLOL:
I've seen some bent up badges but if you have eye for detail it's piss easy. :driver:

No it's not rocket science but there's nothing wrong with wanting something 100% however minor it is!

The dealers don't even get it perfect buddy as ive had to fit new badges on cars titanium ones to be precise and no measurements are given.

There are lots of things the dealers don't do right or don't care enough about to do properly. That doesn't mean we can't do them right and take pride knowing we've done it right.
I, like the OP, would want it to be done exactly right because we care about the tiny details. I think it makes a car look terrible if the badges or number plate etc aren't straight or in line. Obviously just because you don't want your badge to be exactly in spec position doesn't mean you don't care about your car, just means we're all different and want different things from our cars to satisfy us. :drinking:

Chris, I didn't say I wanted it to be fitted wonky bent or anyone else should for that matter but with a good eye for detail OP can get it almost as good as and no one would be the wiser. :drinking:
-
Haha, of course.
But he would know it wasn't to spec and for some people that's not good enough
Chris

Who would have thought asking for some measurements would cause such a debate :stupid:
But yeah I'm with Chris in that if you can do sometime to spec why not do it that way?! Even if you think you have got it spot on I can guarantee it won't be, unless you work for Rolls Royce's production line!

Just goes to show everyone is different or in our case right :signLOL:

I prefer not to use this approach:(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/S328nyn8Dc8/hqdefault.jpg)

The badges aren't fitted by the dealers anyway, its done at the factory with a jig/template.
-
The ones I had to fit were forgotten to be fitted by the factory so I had to fit them for the dealers who sold the titanium fiesta :happy2:
