Title: Faulty seatbelt buckle = Airbag fault light ?
Post by: Steve in crete on June 21, 2016, 05:55:48 am
Greetings from a very hot Crete !
I have the airbag warning light on, when I got the car my seatbelt socket seemed to have a fault, it would set the ' no seat belt ' buzzer off when I went around a corner etc, pushing the buckle into the socket made it go away but very intermittent.
That now never happens but I can ride around with no seatbelt on and no reminder chime ?
Is it likely the socket end attached to the seat is faulty ? It's due a service but would rather sort this before it gets there, I have to remove seats in a minute to get at the knackered plastic brackets for the seat release so could do this at the same time ?
Any experience anyone ?
Any one got a buckle socket from a passenger seat, mines LHD !
Thanks for your help     Steve

I have the same problem with my 07' GTI. Sometimes I can drive for hours without the seatbelt light and sound come on but other times it comes on in the first turn I take or bump I happen to drive into. Would love a explanation to this EXTREMELY annoying problem

Had car serviced today and air bag light was cleared but buckle is still playing up so its not related to the airbags purely a warning the seat belt is not being worn.
I am going to try wrapping a small amount of electrical tape around the tongue or just the end, it does not appear to need to move much to set it off so a little packing might help ?
