I've got a stone chip on my rear arch, it's about the size of a 5p but has some rust on it. I've got some touch up paint which I was going to go over it with but should I apply something first to prevent the rust?

You can't prevent the rust, the only thing to do is have it properly sanded back and painted again. Otherwise you will cover it and eventually it will rust through again. Rust is a bitch

Ouch! That's a stone chip that has been allowed to go really quite rusty, and the paint has now started flaking off. You could use some rust converter-type stuff, but the finish will still be uneven, and you'd need to get more paint off the edges to reveal some unrusted bare metal, otherwise it will continue to creep underneath. Best thing is to get it done by a professional - smart repair or similar.
If only you'd caught it earlier on.... :slap:
Easy to say, though :innocent:

Ok cheers guys.

Yeah go for a reputable smart repair firm and it will be a decent finish. Check their reviews before hand as there is a lot of cowboys out there.
