Girlfriend smashed her golf into a pillar.
Her window won't go up now. I've been wiggling at it to force it but can't.
Any thoughts?

Check your fuses
-
if the motor is making a click noise you'll need to open the 15 or so torx bolts that hold the outer skin on and try it that way.
-
Sorry should have said that the window goes up about 30mm and gets stuck so I can get a grip on it with my hands.
I've stripped the door skin on two of my doors and really don't fancy doing it at 9pm on a Sunday!!
Reckon I could just get another person with me to pull the window up past the sticking point?
-
Worth a try bud.

The runner is probably bent just watch the glass doesn't break when pulling up! It wouldn't be a nice cut lol

Went at this last night for quite a while to no avail.
If she doesn't get it fixed in work today I'll probably be out there until 1am tonight removing a mountain of torx screws!
-
Get yourself a £15 electric screw driver from b&q lol I've got one and it cones in handy with these torx screws
My forth one and soon to be fifth as I've been using it for the wrong bits lol

I have no shortage of tools and equipment! The milwaukee will eat through them providing I have the speed setting right down so I don't ruin the threads. It's just that the job is around 3 hours start to finish and it's raining here!
I'm actually off next week so I'll tackle it then.
To be honest, I hope her car is stolen now for the insurance money :signLOL:

She called me last night and wouldn't tell me the figure she was quoted to get it repaired. I assume she was quoted over €1000 to do the work :congrats:
It's raining non stop here the last few days so I honestly don't know how she's getting by with an open window.
She didn't like it when I told her that her hair had that windswept look :slap:
Photobucket is down for maintenance so can't put photos up.

Got it all sorted last night in 2 hours. Turns out she had buckled the metal crossbeam which was pushing off the window and stopping it from going up.
Here it is when she pulled up to the house

Popped the door skin off in 10 mins

This part of the window mechanism was catching on the crossbeam above it. So I removed the crossbeam and beat them back to straighten them out.

I then went at the panel with a rubber mallet to take out the worst of it. She had cut into the paintwork so deep that it's back to bare metal so this was only just a quick fix but actually it's not bad looking

Here's the final product. I wouldn't put it on my own car but she seems happy that the window works.

Well done mate :happy2: that's quite decent considering what it was.

Thanks! I'm happy enough with it for now... As soon as I polished up one panel I wanted to do her whole car but she just wouldn't appreciate it :signLOL:

Good job done there. I didn't realise the door skin would come off that easily - thought it was welded somehow. :happy2:
