Hello all,
I've just paid my money and bought myself an 05 MkV Laser Blue Golf Gti.
Swapping from a Nissan 350Z which I have adored, but now need 4 seats and ISOFIX ha ha!!
Actually really looking forward to the whole front drive hot hatch experience again (previously had Pug 306Gti6 and Leon FR) - my haunts are Yorkshire B roads for my commute, so the Zed was a little overkill for that.
Can't wait to pick her up tomorrow.
Cheers
Chris

Welcome to the fold. :drinking:

Welcome, where abouts in Yorkshire?
-
North Yorks, just near Castle Howard, however it's all moot right now as the new Golf just went POP.
Driving home tonight on the b roads, oil pressure light and a bad, bad really bad noise from the engine.
Gutted. Beyond belief.

Oh, man, that is a nightmare story - when you were so looking forward to it. Hopefully you have a decent warranty / dealer sale. Any update on the problem?

Ah bollox :sad1: not good.
You're just on the other side of the hills to me, I'm near Stokesley / Northallerton

The nightmare continues.
So it was a cam tensioner that had snapped. The cambelt etc had been done within the last 30k miles, but apparently it was in pretty poor shape overall so my trusted garage said after it had been recovered.
All fixed for a big BIG bill. The biggest bill I've had on a car for many years.
Or so I thought... Driving home, I get 10 miles and the oil pressure warning light and engine STOP lights are back on and pinging away at me.
So it's been recovered again today and I await news.
Right now I'm deeply regretting this and wishing I had stuck with my 350Z.

Sorry you are having all these issues. Hope you get it fixed soon :happy2:

Sorry to hear your having really bad luck with the gti, hopefully get sorted, was it a private sale when you bought the car.
The oil pick up pipe in the sump some times get blocked and can bring the light on,get the garage to check it

Thanks chaps.
Seems to be sorted now fingers crossed. Chunk of silicone seal was floating about in the sump intermittently blocking the pickup pipe we think.
Look out for me in North Yorks and around! :)
Cheers
Chris
