I recently bought a ramair induction kit which sounds sweet and a non res miltek catBack which looks great but other than a deeper idle I find makes not much of a difference in sound compared to my stock exhaust I had on before? Anyone else who's got the standard downpipe and miltek non res feel the same ?

I've got the Milltek resonated cat back and I thought that it was quieter than standard

I bought mine with a miltek cat back on it and I find it extremely quiet. Can't imagine it being quieter than the standard one though surely.

Take the resonator off

I thought it was pretty quiet at first but once the cars warmed it has a nice note to it. It dosnt pop as much as my standard exhaust for some reason - and I've done a pre cat delete too. But it does have a nice note to it - not too loud and boy racerish

That's what I'm worried about I would like it louder so was thinking an open downpipe to but I feel it would be to boy racer and would drone on the long drives

Do what's been said and you'll absolutely love it :rolleye: had one on my 225 tt remapped and it sounded awesome but mine was non res so louder but not subaru or corsa loud :signLOL:

@Gingerzilla (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=15158) I thought the same thing today going home - of going full turbo back just to get a little more noise. Just don't want drone as I have a baby boy and I'd much rather he sleep on long journeys!! (Even though he seems to go quiet when I accelerate!)

I've even removed the pre cat so don't understand how the one cat left can silence so much noise and that removing that it'll be a straight pipe so would more than likely be to loud

Got a milltek on mine and went with the sports cat, non res option - seriously impressed, its not too loud on longer/steadier drives but gives you immense sound when you want to shift. Id definitely look at altering the downpipe if you think its too quiet youll not be disappointed.
-
Again you need to remove the resonated box before the rear box to get a decent note out of it.

It's on my to do list, the list is quite big though

Let me know when you take the resonator off I might be interested in It I'm looking for one to keep the noise down on track days

Would you be interested in doing a swap for a non resonated one? Where are you?

Currently restoring one of my R1's and don't even start on the car on the left, that's going to take me years to get around to getting finished. I've also got a Mark 2 Capri that I'm restoring, I took the engine out of it about 5-6 years ago to paint the engine bay and I've not got around to that yet

Bloody hell man show me a wheel at the very least :signLOL:
Wish I had a garage I could park a spare few cars in :signLOL:

We are way off topic now (apologies for that) but the mark 2 Capri is a very rare 3.0s, one of around 5 known German built ones from that era left in existance. It's also in 1970's metallic brown lol.

Wondered what forum I was looking at for a second but I ride Yamaha so have a lot of appreciation for that R1!
