I've got similar looking kit on my MK5 GTI.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftt159%2Fkrzysiekring%2F20160701_151701.jpg&hash=9de8e02a4f72ad7aa6a2a22e7fd5443747d90eb7)

There is small "rubber hole" in the intake pipe... what is that for? Should this be connected to anything? I have blanked mine off  :happy2:

So having it covered up / blanked off is the way to do it then?

Yes it must be blanked off.

It's an intake and that's all that really matters. I've used cheap £15 jobs in the day and they work lol  :scared1:

I've never understood the purpose of these kits. You're replacing the standard system that pulled through cold air and replacing it with something that gets warmer air. Can anyone explain the point of these?

....it's BLUE...!
Isn't the idea that you remove the panel filter in the box & the cone had higher flow ?

Looks more suited to the TSI or diesel engines. Utterly pointless on a TFSI engine as pictured in the OP.

Get a proper intake
