Hi all
My driver's seat seems to have developed an annoying creak over the last few days when I accelerate. Unfortunately as I'm the only driver in my household its very difficult to pinpoint exactly where its coming from, therefore I was wondering if any people on the forum have experienced this themselves and if they found a solution?
Any info would be great as its driving me bonkers :happy2:
Cheers
George

Had this on a 330 bmw covertible from new.....Took flippin ages for the dealers to resolve. That was year 2000, so can't remember what it was, soz, but very annoying... Something springy inside perhaps??? You tried adjusting everything that can be adjusted? WD 40 on runners? Dunno after that.....
Good luck and be sure to report back on the solution.....

Is it a 3dr? Common enough with them as you're constantly raising and lowering the seat to let people in...
I've seen people replace the internals on these.
If it's a 5 door, the entire seat can be taken out quite easily and there's few moving parts so I would just check all of the retaining bolts are secure.
Other things around that could be the leather arm rest rubbing off it or the seatbelt holder rubbing off you. Often other surrounding items echoing off the internals can sound like other things.

If your seat is adjusted all the way down, its rubbing on frame. Just give it one click pull up! :happy2:

Hi all
Thanks for the replies. Mine is the 5 door golf GTI. I think I might have cured it. I raised the seat to the absolute max height this morning, got down on the ground and coated every metal part underneath in a silicon lubricant spray. Not sure how long that will last for but fingers crossed. Had the same problem with my Bora many years ago, mind you by that point I had 250,000 miles on the clock.......
Anyway the spray is in the boot now for future usage
