Talking to my tuner, I am mulling over going to stage 3 on my edition 30, it's not cheap (about 5-6k) fitted as new turbo, LPFP, injectors etc. Will be around 430bhp on Revo. Has anyone had any experience of stage 3 ?, I'm not sure a car worth 11k is worth putting 5k into, however it would be epic fast and I don't plan on selling the car as I only drive the car at weekends and then have other cars to drive.
Part of me thinks it's too much money and a waste as stage 2+ is far from slow !, the other part says it will be epic and great for the ultimate weekend toy.
What does everyone think ?
Cheers

BRAVE man!
I'm very interested, and excited for you, but no-way will I be following you to a 3 on my Eddy at that price/level of "investment"!
-
Have you got an LSD?
-
it can be done a lot cheaper than 5-6k
-
What's your current power?

Tbh I feel the same, the costs compared to rhe value of the car just doesn't sit well. I lost more than that in 6 months on previous new cars I have bought, but still I am struggling to justify it. After all stage 2+ does seem more than enough most of the time ! :happy2:

360, which is plenty I know

Not far off £1,000 for each additional 10bhp or source the parts yourself and do it a bit cheaper but still....
I always think modification to that extreme is a very poor investment because it's never seen on resale but if you are as you say going to keep the car for good then I think it's a good decision, you'll love it and also have bragging rights over 99% of the forum!

When you look at it £/bhp it def doesn't look wise, that's for sure !. As you say, the further you go rhe more expansive it gets !. Shame I can't test drive a stage 3 to see how much faster it is than my 2+.
-
Why can't you?
See if any forum members are up there and what meet up they're going to be attending next!

Have you got an LSD?
because if you haven't you'll need one - so budget for that too ...£1500???

430 can be achieved on a Beach buggy k04 hybrid or even TTE420 turbo.
wont cost you 4-5 grand that's for sure.

Would you need new injectors and LPFP for that also ?

If you have all the stage 2+ then you are more than half way there.
Some use s3 injectors or others opt for rs4 injectors, I guess it depends on your tuner.
HPFP is needed and I believe a LPFP from an RS3 aswell.
The turbo is about 1600 I think for the TTE420 and the beach buggy turbo is about 1000
decide who you want to map your car first as there are different ways around it.
Also consider water meth if you haven't already for extra cooling and octane boost.

Yeap....as the others say....get a Hyprid. If you haven't then add WMI, turbo pipes, RFD, LPFP and as Rich says LSD.
Niki posted a great graph on Faceache other day of a TTE420 Eddy....best possible 2+ mods to aid flow on board the car were used (with the RS4 injectors) etc etc and was 425bhp and similar torque IIRC.

Hi Madone, where abouts are you from, I have APR stage 3 + your more than welcome to take a test drive if local, but it now has AWD conversion, so it's now completely different, in all honesty 360bhp is enough in a fwd golf, mine has 480 and was prety much unusable up to 80 unless tyres ad08's were well up to temp, and you can't do that all the time, well you can but it's going to cost a fortune in tyres lol, I have 4 settings on my car, and had it on 3 almost all the time 360bhp and that was usable, so unless you go my route which will be posted very shortly on here, just waiting for garage to send me build thread, I would save the money,if you do go stage 3 plus you really have to go AWD, take it from me, I've had both now, roads were really wet this morning and the grip is like night and day now, and I can finally use all the power, well most of it just a few more miles running in, on a few parts.
-
Ps please don't all ask for a test drive,

I was literally going to ask this question myself. I have just bought a S3 CDL engine which I'm going to fit in my mk5 golf. The plan is to go stage 3 hybrid, most likely along the lines of tte420 or turbo dynamics hybrid. I already have the supporting hardware ready to fit but my issue is how am I going to put the power down in a FWD car. An AWD drive conversion is not that difficult but its a hassle compared to just fitting a LSD.

Thanks mate, I'm near Woking. Not sure if that's local for you. I guess the bottom line is I have the modding bug and am getting the itch after doing 2+ some time back. Do I need to do it, def not ! Haha, would I love it ?, oh yes....
Does everyone feel the bottom end, gearbox, etc etc is ok with 400+ hp ?, I obviously don't want to have to rebuild the engine every 10k. Tbh I don't drive it hard all the time anyway, it's really a weekend toy that gets the odd blast full gas, mainly I use the massive torque and enjoy it rather than thrash it (if that makes sense)...
