Title: Aircon Leaking
Post by: Charlie23 on July 21, 2016, 10:33:32 pm
Hi guys any common places for the Aircon to
Leak?

Had it re-gassed 2 weeks ago and it worked great but just noticed a lot of green fluid on the under tray on the D/S and now no Aircon again? Had a little look and couldn't see anything sticking out noticeable?

Cheers

The condenser is always a favourite. Not totally sure of the set up on the gti but there is also a few connections that have little rubber 0 rings which perrish is unused

The air con is also known to leak from the switch

yeah, check the thrust sensor, the top fails and let the fluid out. Had to replace mine recently

+1 for this area first then the condenser would be my next point for inspection.

The green fluid will be UV leak detection dye, take it back to where it was gassed and they should have a UV torch and will be able to locate the leak with that. Most likely the pressure switch or condenser :happy2:

Agree with the above comments - the switch is a cheap place to start. It had gone porous on mine - could actually hear it whistling gas out after the car had been regassed a few years back. Was replaced, regassed, and works like it should. Fortunately the compressor was replaced under warranty before my ownership, so hope it is not that on yours...
