Title: Buying a MkV GTI soon
Post by: mrlambo on January 19, 2010, 03:42:12 pm
Hi guys,

This is my first post obviously since I'll be buying a GTI soon. Currently have a 330d and it's been no end of trouble with blown turbo, shot gearbox...pas failure...so on and so on!

I have £15k to spend and I'm currently looking at 57 plate or newer, 30k miles and maybe some extras...DSG, sat-nav, leather etc...

I wanted to ask what your experience is of things to look out for while I'm shopping? Any known problems with models of this age etc...

Plus any extra's that I should look for or avoid? Maybe the gearbox breaks on DSG's if it abused?

I've seen a few Edition 30's around but not sure the extra cost is worth it, surely I could re-map at some point?

Thanks in advance guys!

welcome along matey! I havent got DSG, but i would love it.

Some have had issues with a control unit on the DSG, but they have been sorted easily by VW. Id say the clutch on a DSG was better for remapping. have a read around, youll like the place! :P

GTI vs ED30 is quite a common question, have a punch of the search option and there's a wealth of knowledge on the subject in here  :happy2:

Hi, I know if I had gone for the GTI, I would of always have that niggle "should of got one of those" everytime I saw an ED30.  But maybe I'm just odd!!
