My second turbo car (other one being a new Mitsubishi Evo 8 FQ 320 in 2005). I might be a tad deaf, but never heard any turbo noise from either car, but just reading another post leads me to think that I should be hearing something turbo-related..... (spooling /whine) etc.....What exactly am I missing?
Joking apart, I am a bit deaf in one ear, so am I missing out on something? Sure could hear the deep grunt of the 911 and the M3 that I had prior to these.....
Thnx

Not really. You should feel it more than hear it.
If the diverter valve is goosed you might hear a 'tsssssssss' noise under load.
If the diverter valve is good, you might hear a little 'tsshh' noise lifting off after boost. More noticably on a tuned car.

You hear nothing on a standard car with a standard map. The intake silences everything and they barely run any boost as standard anyway.
If you want turbo noise - buy an intake and get it remapped

With it being warm (its the summer, kinda) I have driven with the window down more and when I pull away I can hear a turbo wine the of noise when I accelerate hard-ish. I can also hear a little/faint tssh noise when I lift off.
