Title: Help! Canbus Gateway Removal
Post by: PatchySan on August 06, 2016, 07:00:17 pm
Hi Guys,

Currently trying to swap over my old Canbus Gateway to the new one but it's causing me a lot of grief at the moment!  :sad1:

I have a 2005 MK5 GTI so the canbus is under the footwell (groan), while I can see it with the red cable connected to it for the life of me I can't fathom a technique to pry it off. It's on a plastic tray and I try to wiggle it off with little success, I've also tried pushing some tabs in with no luck either.

This is the view I get when I get underneath the footwell...

Can anyone who done this before give me tips on how to remove this safely without making a butchers of the panels? And for coding is it just a matter of looking at the installation list via VCDS of the old one and ticking them back on the new one? Thanks in advance.

I find I have to do it this way http://www.r32oc.com/topic/29242-canbus-gateway-location-removal/

Others do it the way your looking at but I'm not flexible enough.

Coding, yes just copy the original installation adding any new items you've installed to it.
