....
Spoke to a friend today and was telling them about our forum here (I'm always Press Ganging politely suggesting that people become members here).
Anyway, they are organising a trackday at 'The Combe' in late March / early April and already have Jap metal and want some German metal to attend.
I'll get more details in due course - Are we interested as a another excuse for a big meet?
-
Sorry Robin... Castle Coombe is the last place I'd consider tracking my car, seen FAR too many trackdays end in tears at Quarry Corner.
I will be up for meeting though :happy2: :happy2:
-
Bloomin' eck :surprised:
Bristol is a bit far for me, but I'd still consider it around the 10th to 19th April (10 day rota) :happy2:
-
Know nothing about Castle Coombe, so had a quick google:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fv55%2Fstealthwolf%2FCastleCombeLayout.gif&hash=ff5954f12ae762ae5b65092fa43db5c9d799c244)
Can see why so many would not slow down enough to go round.

^^^^
True!
However, there may be some who would like to go on track and anyway it's an opportunity for a social meet.
It's at very early stages at the moment and without any obligation whatsoever. I'm posting just to assess if any interest.
:happy2:

^^^^
Camp Corner is much worse than Quarry imo!
Thanks for posting the circuit map, stealth :happy2:

Quick Youtube search for "Castle Coombe Quarry" = lol

I'll be up for Castle Combe, I always enjoy it there. Had a couple of hairy moments at quarry but I don't drive too silly, just for the fun of it :P
-
Blimey that video is scary :scared:
Those understeering Cavaliers did make me chuckle mind
I'd be up for a meet there Robin :happy2:

I've only driven there once in May 2007 (Edition 30 no mods, 2 months old) and enjoyed it despite it being Mildly Moist, didnt think it was that dangerous until I saw the Youtube footage and looked back at my video (not great quality), now I realise why its the only track my Insurance (Greenlight) won't cover me on.

Not much run of to the walls, no gravel (my best friend) and fast corners, but I'd still have to do it again, well it would be rude not to. :driver:
Didn't some bloke put an Audi RS into the wall at Camp Corner on their trackday?

....Yes, I was there! Two young (relatively inexperienced) guys in a silver RS Avant - No-one hurt but very extensive damage. IIRC, the car was hired/borrowed too!!
-
that video really put me off!
-
V. interesting to hear from cocopops that this is the only track that Greenlight insurance won't cover!
It all sounds a little dangerous!! :signLOL:

^ This guy was completely unphased by what had happened and just said he'd repair it and track it another day!

If you play it smart, drive to enjoy the drive and don't act like an idiot you'll be alright (said the guy who binned an F430 whilst testing for S.F ><)
