I'd guess this would mean lower intake temps, definitely a healthier/efficient filter?
Heat soak from my cracked cover must be immense :innocent:

I'd like to know opinions or experiences of this intake. I'm not selling anything. :confused:
I'm considering fitting it and relocating a lightweight battery to the trunk.

Yeah, I think so. Saw it on a Ed. 30 with 355 BHP but with 102 octane petrol. I can only get 98 octane where I live which sucks... :sad1:

Is there a dyno graph of that car available? Plenty of people who revert to a standard airbox after using a cone filter say they got a better response and more torque at low revs. This could achieve that, as well as in theory flowing better at the top end like a cone filter. That also depends on the bore of the pipework at its narrowest point in comparison to the GTI/Ed30 airbox.
I know you're restricted to using a standard airbox in your country. This might be a good solution for you!

My mechanic liked the idea of relocating the battery to the trunk and fitting this intake. I was looking for others thoughts since the forum has a lot of experienced people. I don't have a dyno graph. A friend shared the ad of the car mostly because it has a great interior with the Scirocco mk3 R colour cluster, mk6 GTI MFSW and a Golf mk7 climatronic retrofitted with a RNS-510 and PolarFIS Adv. included too.
Then I noticed the intake with a very nice power output! :grin:

Nice idea, but different MAF, so the ECU would need recalibrating....if our MED9 ECUs can even read properly from those MAFs?
It's a way better airbox than the MK5 one, much bigger volume of cool air, especially when sat in traffic......where the standard one heat soaks something chronic.
I would have done it already if it wasn't for the MAF.
Battery in the boot is a pain in FWD Golfs as it doesn't have the same floor as the R32 to take a battery, although I'm sure there's a solution somewhere!

The different MAF shouldn't be much of an issue. Just guessing, since I'm no tuning expert. If you start with a base map from a TTS engine, it shouldn't much different than doing it from the start with our BYD base maps.

I'm more inclined to use a lightweight and smaller battery so I can keep my space saver tyre and lower boot floor. I'm still considering options. :thinking:

I was gonna ask is that foam is something you could buy? Compartments look the right shape for a battery though.

Is the TTS engine the same as the BYD? I know from 3.2 V6 engines in the past that Audi like to mix and match things. For example, the A3 3.2 was a mix and match of MK4 and MK5 parts and not interchangeable, including the ECU. I just have a sneaky suspicion this is what Audi have done with the TTS too. Mix and match of TFSI and TSI parts.
If the ECUs are identical, then yep, what you've said would work. I guess we need to do some research!

Golfs with a normal size spare tyre have this foam. You can get them from scrapyards or from TPS.
This intake does sound like a PITA compared to any of the others I've found. :sad1:
