Title: Thermostat Replacement

Going to be changing my thermostat in a couple of days (deep joy haha)

I've seen the pelican parts diy guide and doesn't look too bad just time consuming really

Just wondered if anyone out there that had tackled the job had any tips for the task?

Hi there

I did mine (and the two inline units - 05 DSG) on the drive at home and like you say, it's relatively straightforward as long as you are methodical.  There is a lot of disassembly so I laid everything out in a logical order as I took it off.  The alternator is a tight fit in the mounting so lever out with a big screwdriver or crowbar and lube before refitting to make it a bit easier.  I used ramps to elevate the front of the car and these were fine for the job.

I also changed the auxiliary drive belt as a precautionary measure whilst it was stripped down.

Thanks for the info mate think I'll change the belt while it's off too
