Title: Boost Pressure Control Valve and PCV? Confused
Post by: peter_booker2003 on August 30, 2016, 11:01:34 pm
Dummies question but I'm mega confused.

I hear people replacing the Cam Follower, Diverter Valve and the PCV as these are prone to going. Found the bits apart from the PCV.

Have searched and searched and I'm trying to work out if the Boost Pressure Control Valve and PCV Valve are the same thing or not? I've found a few photos of each and they look to be completely different but I don't want to order the incorrect item.

Thanks

I'd reccomend getting a pcv delete myself. No adverse effects and youve eliminated a problem area from the equation completely

Cam follower(or tappet) replacement depends on if the hpfp(rail pump) is oem or upgraded. If oem-stock...probably should replace by 80k to 100k miles. If upgraded with an internal plunger kit...should be replaced every 10k to 15k miles depending on its wear...which you would have to determine.

PCV should be replaced when it fails as well. Run the oem PCV unless you go through them often...then you can switch to a stage 1 block off or catch-can kit.

Boost pressure control valve? Do you mean N249 diverter valve or the N75 boost frequency valve? I believe you mean diverter(boost recirculation) valve.
The diverter valve should be replaced when it fails and you have no boost. Again, if fails frequently...upgrade it.

You can find DIY vids here for most bits as well as explanations of why you might need to:
