Hi. Currently in the proccess of fitting cruise control to my mk5 golf gti. dont all the fitting of the stalk and then coding in using vag com. when turning the cruise control switch on the green light appears on dash. but thats all. it offers no function apart from the green light on the dash board. gave the car a scan:

R u pressing the set button when driving? You need to be driving at least 20mph for it to work. Also check in the steering wheel measuring blocks that the set and res buttons actually work. Could be a faulty stalk

Where did you get the stalk from? Just wondering if it's a non genuine one that could be causing the problem?

You've also got a problem with the wiper stalk...
Also an immobiliser problem? :confused:
To be fair mines factory fitted and when I click the switch over I get the same as you, green light on the dash doesn't work though!!! Clicked the little rocker switch up/down nothing happens, no faults found either when scanning so who knows...

The controller has hw 0638 this doesn't support cruise control.
You will need another steering controller

No just the clock and now the cc doesn't work as ive tried coding it but it's already ticked on vcds and doesn't change.

I take it you have driven the car to find out that cruise doesn't work?
The reason i say this is down to how some clusters display the cruise symbol
Early clusters would show the green cruise symbol as soon as you flick the top switch
Later clusters would only show the green cruise symbol when you set cruise while driving

Hi Eddy, I've tried it whilst driving but still got no cruise control and I did ask the fitter and he said it's got nothing to do with the cluster and should work even without clock fitted :confused: there is a symbol if I look closely but it doesn't light up and when I try to program it with vcds it doesn't change the coding either and says error. thanks

I thought that the original controller would work with cruise if it supports mfsw and highline?

Makes no difference, for some reason the 638 hardware doesn't support cruise
More common on the mk6 golf that the module will nearly always be incompatible with cruise

Bulbs are all okay as ive done the double brake and side light mod and alarm I bought off here worked for a week and failed lol

Thanks @Eddie-NL (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2345) I looked it up and can't seem to get into that anymore as login coding doesn't highlight :thinking: I recall when @RetroRaz (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=6494) told me how to do it worked that time but now it's not going in.

Did you code your engine as well as your steering wheel controller?
