Can anyone tell me if it is ok to run about with my meth turned on but not mapped in? Its a Revo stage4 s3 8p. Any harm to be done? Or will I just not see the gains/positives that I would do when mapped?
Thanks, Stevie.

i wouldnt advise having meth mapped in unless you have switchable maps.
I'll only use it for trackdays.
but yeah you can run it without being mapped. cool intake temps and higher octane. Obviously the full benefits come with a custom map etc

Ah ok, was going to book it in for a mapping session. So if it runs out or stops there is no harm done without it mapped in? But if it was mapped in there would be damage?
Cheers for the reply, Stevie.

That it mate.
When the car is mapped for meth, there is a wider scale of timing adaptions that can be made. if the car is tuned to see this, then suddenly the meth runs out the ecu will be asking to much from what the car can give if that makes sense...
I have meth fitted but have no intention of getting it mapped in unless I have switchable map.
map 1 - stock power
Map 2 - Full power
Map 3 - Full power + meth

Perfect cheers. So you would arrive at track and change the map cooling the temps better for it getting a sore time on track? Then finish up and revert back to normal map for the more "gentle" road driving?
Do use the throttle body pipe? Sorry for so many questions but looking forward to getting it fitted and interested in the ins/outs of the mod.
Stevie.

yeah thats exactly what I plan to do.
No worries, no I dont use a throttle body plate, I have trhe meth nozzle tapped into my aftermarket throttle pipe pipe(just below the map sensor)
Its so much cheaper than the spacers and it give the water/meth time to atomize before it hits the engine.
What kit are you using?
are you going with a boost activated swtich or a progressive controller?

I have the Revo/BSH throttle pipe on just now so going to use that for the nozzle.
I have Devils own base kit to install with the adjustable pressure switch 0-30psi, going to bring it in at 15psi.
What increase are people seeing with and without it mapped? Its torque I am hoping to increase.

I should have mine up and running properly this weekend. all the wiring has been done etc. Im still on stock tune so me having it start at 15psi means it would never come on lol.
When tested on my last car, it felt to pull alot harder simular to the first drive after fitting a decent intercooler.
Blue flames out the back too if the exhuast is hot enough :driver:

Haha yeah you will be a bit lower, I am running 2bar so 15psi should be ok.
Anyone know the increases with and without mapping? Would you say 8/10hp and 10lbsft without mapping is realistic? And maybe 30bhp and 30lbsft with a meth map?
Cheers, Stevie.

I run meth at all times. The map I have increases and decreases the timing dependant on intake temps. So no need to run different maps.
You want to set the meth around 5 psi under the peak boost at the rev limit. So say you hit 30 psi at 7.5k, then set the meth boost at 25 psi.
-
Ah ok, as high as that? So its only getting a short spray time? What is the reason for that Alex, have you logged and seen there is no need for a longer spray time?
Is that a Revo map or an AKS map that self adjusts?
Cheers, Stevie.

If its set too low then you will use meth very fast due. The car will hit the lower boost at part throttle when you don't need the meth to be on.
Its the RTech map that self adjusts.

Ok no probs. So does this mean on a 25psi meth map you will only see the advantage high up in the band or do you still see the benefits right through? When do you want to see the meth working on the temps, when everything is working at its hardest?
Thanks, Stevie.
