Hi

Thanks for the reply.  However, after looking at the link posted, they appear to be Chinese SATNAVs and wish to keep to VW German manufacture.

I have read reviews that Chinese SATNAVs are useless for want of a better word.

Hi @Tanuie (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=16955) . I was the same not wanting a Chinese one. Look out for the Zenec units, like so:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZENEC-ZE-NC2010-Car-DVD-Navigation-Bluetooth-Stereo-6-5-LCD-for-Volkswagen-Seat-/222239655958?hash=item33be840816:g:j9sAAOSw9IpXzDC8

I got mine secondhand and works a great. They are built in Germany and were designed just for the Golf MK5 platform. Colours etc. all match up and works with the MFD dash if you have it.

I may have mine up for sale soon, although it's the model before this one. Highly recommend them, the bluetooth and sound is great.

Watch out for the radio reception though as most only have single fakra sockets (like mine), which reduces the radio reception (I still find it ok though).

Cheers

Aye.  I would imagine any of these Android head units are Chinese in nature.  Including the one the OP linked to.  If you don't want a Chinese headunit, then get a genuine one, or one of the made to measure Kenwoods (which is probably still made in China).

99% of the world electronics including the original manufacturer  VW, Ford  ect. are all made in China except the major ones are built to their specifications and even they give problems.

It's a valid point.

Most Apple products are assembled in China. Bang and Olufsen now make some of their kit in China. Lots of electronics companies do the same.

No longer is it the case that "made in China" by default means it's tat. There are some good products coming out of China. They are the biggest exporter in the world.
