Title: Interior lighting
Post by: Stig_gti on September 19, 2016, 04:03:19 pm
Hi guys I have a mk6 gti.
Problem is with the interior lights not coming on when you open the doors any of the doors. Bulbs work fine because they work when you switch them on, foot well lights also work when I unlock the car and open the doors. It just seems to be the roof lights not coming on.

Checked things like the fuses, as the door open sensors may be on another circuit to the lights themselves? At least give them all a push to ensure they're seated correctly.

Thank you I will give them a check over.
Weird thing is they don't come on even when you unlock the car with the key fob iver. Only something minor but annoying as its getting darker earlier now with winter on it's way.

Have you the ability to get a fault scan done? That will likely tell you what's wrong.

Have you checked the actual light holder for a loose switch?.

I've had a quick look didn't notice anything. They work if you use the switch it's self, just don't work when unlocking the car and opening the doors any doors. Weird

be the switch......bet you've a three bulb version, whch drew too much current and slowly burnt the contacts.

Now superseded with centre light omitted and just the two outside lights.
If you still want three then second hand only and hope you get a good one :(

I found a good three bulb version and replaced with led bulbs....hardly any current draw so should be fine :D
