Title: Rear speaker wiring

Hi all,

Wanting to replace the rear speakers in the golf with some Hertz components i've got lying around.

Checked the wiring out and there's 4 wires going into the speaker and two coming back out to the tweeter.

I've got crossovers, but do I just put all four wires into the relevant + and - in on the crossover or do I need something like these plug adapters for the in? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172131667880?clk_rvr_id=1101881577117&rmvSB=true

are you changing the header unit also!

Yeah already changed the head unit, i've just got some Hertz speakers knocking around that I want to put in the rear.

Just not sure how to approach the wiring. At the minute it's 4 wires going into the speaker then two coming back out to the tweeter.

i ran new wires in to the speakers but i was runnin amps.I would run wires into them as you will get better control over them

Yeah there's already the standard wiring going into the speakers though? I just want to use that wiring for my other speakers but not sure if all 4 wires need to go into the crossover and then the relevant two to speaker and tweeter.

You need to see an audio specialist pal. Unlikely you will get an answer to that sort of question on here.

think you will need the adaptors you have linked to get them to work

Thanks guys, think i've sussed it now though.

Found a wiring diagram that shows which two wires are feeding the woofer and which pass through to the tweeter.

Soon find out when I hack them to bits at the weekend  :grin:
