Title: stone guard or wax oil?
Post by: Spankiee on September 29, 2016, 03:28:39 pm
pretty boring question buttttttt....... just wondering what people have used in the wheel arches on the section where there is no like extra protection.

its like right in the middle of the wheel arch just noticed its starting to go a bit rusty.

is wax oil too thin? i know how messy it can be. will stone guard/stone chip last longer?

thanks

Is it where the arch liner rubs on the chassis member just above the driveshaft, or on the wing?

If the former, I would sand it back and cover the patch with 'Greystripe' from Halfords.  It's thick rubbery underbody seal.

If it's the wing, the warranty should cover that.

For 'waxoyl' type stuff, I use VW's own cavity wax which is available from the dealers in spray cans.  It sticks to stuff way better than the Finnegans junk!

yeah its that section above the drive shafts. and there is also 2 sections on the rear arches that are exposed.

already had wings and sills done under warranty.

i degreased everything and blasted it hard with a jet wash then applied the dynax s50. good stuff.

i thought/hoped it would of set harder but either way it will do the job better than wax oil . crawled underneath and covered a lot of the rear aswell like boot floor etc.
