I've jut bought an engine with a snapped inlet cam, it snapped right next to the fuel pump cam, would it be just replace the cam or would there be more to it?
-
i would put a cam in it and time it up then turn it over by hand to see if it spins freely
also check the both cam journals for scoring
-
That's what I thought just wasn't sure if it would of bent valves?
-
until you turn it over you will not know
i removed a head the other day after an axx engine code tensioner chain had snapped quite badly it smashed the casing to bits and ripped a tooth of the exhaust cam sprocket
it never bent any valves i was amazed :happy2:
-
Okay thanks
-
Is that the one off FB?.if so just replace the cam and that will see you right
-
when my chain snapped it didnt bend any valves.
Interesting to see two engines with snapped chains that didnt bend valves. Was your snap at idle as well @DANBOY66 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=8622)
I bought the car with the snapped chain so who knows it's made a mess of itself smashed itself to bits
