Hi, Chris from the Isle of Wight. Just bought 2007 Mk5 Gti Dsg, standard tune with runflats. Anyone out there swapped for non runflats? Also, does a stage 1 remap require brake/suspension upgrades? Thanks guys!

some pics please ! thanks

Welcome!
A stage 1 map does not require any hardware upgrades at all. Although, there are a few standard bits to update if you are going stage 1, which help:
Diverter Valve
PCV
Cam follower
Parts readily available from TPS or VW at relatively low prices (approx. £30-£40 each) and you can change yourself as they are relatively easy with tutorials/help from this forum (where I learnt to do mine).
Let us know how you get on.

Hi just had mine re-mapped to stage 1 and i was told no other bits required, it does make hell of a difference.
Sorry can't help with the tyres.

Never heard of any of the MK5's that where fitted with Run-Flat Tyres? Can you confirm what the Sidewall actually says? I.E Brand, Type?
Every MK5 GTI or Edition 30 I have seen has always had Non Run-Flat type Tyres

Sorry for delay. Tyres are Pirelli p6000s 225/45 R17 91 Y9 (back) and Briway BFU 69 225/45Z R1794w (front). I have never had runflats and presumed tyre pressure indicator plus harsh ride indicated that they were runflats. As you can tell my knowledge of the vehicle is limited as yet so thanks for your help. Can anyone suggest best tyres for performance/decent ride quality? I live on an island with crap road surfaces, cheers!
