Title: 25 posts to go.
Post by: Ninja on October 07, 2016, 11:49:09 pm
Hey all,

So - I can't post in the classifieds yet and my "welcome" rampage in the newbies board apparently doesn't count. At least I was friendly even if i still can't post! Hah.

Anyway, I'm on the lookout for a good, well specced, low mileage ED30 w/ DSG.

If anyone's thinking of selling let me know. I'll be really interested.

On a side note, what can realistically be expected from a stage one remap on an ED30?

I got 310 from a custom rtech map and ram air filter. But every car is different but it should be around that figure.

Also get some good tyres on the front as you will need them  and shell Vpower of course.

Haha. Fair point.

Whichever comes first a 32 or a ED30 will be on my drive :)

32 is nice but like me you might end up wanting more power which on the 32 is kind of a dead end. Sound the nuts though. A mapped ed30 will destroy one though.

True this. Even my k03 GTI destroys R32s. If you want power buy the car with the turbo. Or buy an R32 and do a turbo conversion on it...

not a dead end modding a r32 just a lot lot more expensive to do

I think I read once you need to spend 8-10k plus turbo charging one  :surprised:

I've come from a 32.. Speed isn't what I'm bothered about. It would be nice, but you can't bear that sound from a 32. Yes, R32's are slow as sh*t but it's an outright eargasm as soon as you floor it. Granted mine was a full lucifer system, but still..

The ED30 appeals because when I test drove one it just felt so torquey.. it literally felt like I was being dragged along for the ride. Which was nice :)

You can stage one charge one (RUF) for around 5K which will take it to about 300hp.

The VR6 has a beautiful note when taking off normally or at WOT and as said it's an eargasmic sound which will make you grin like a Cheshire Cat on acid  :signLOL:
Down sound to the VR  isn't as fast as the gti with 200bhp  and three adults a baby in the car as I proved a month back when I was being forced into taking a spirited drive down to M1 by a kid who actually thought he'd be able to beat the gti not knowing who's behind the wheel of this beast

I would love a VR6 and pump this into it  http://www.hpamotorsports.com/vr6-single.html

"R32 not the fastest car but its dripping in soul"

I own a Ed btw

+1 for the ED30, a  few add mods and you'll be on the same performance as a stage 3 standard GTI.

As the man said above...
not a dead end modding a r32 just a lot lot more expensive to do

Simply put:
Stg 1 R32 300 hp ... £5k (apparently?!?)  :stupid:

Stg 1 Eddy 300HP...£500 ish.

If you want (affordable) exhaust noise,  buy a V8 TVR!  :signLOL:

More seriously, i feel the debate should include the 2 v 4 wheel drive aspect.
if only they had made a 4WD Eddy!

They did, eventually, sort of; it was the mk6 R. Kind of a blessing in disguise that VW decided to ditch the n/a V6 for the R. I'm sure the purists weren't happy, but for enthusiasts that like affordable power the CDL with AWD was handy. Even a 400bhp mk6 R with a TTE420 or similar is a much cheaper project than turbocharging a V6. But then the few R32 turbos that exist are instantly a whole world cooler because of it. Sound better too.
