Title: Fan staying on after turning engine off?
Post by: lukemk5gti on October 10, 2016, 09:29:12 am
Noticed the gf's 1.4L mk5 golf has an issue where the main fan stays on after the engine is turned off  the last week or two.

Any ideas?

The temp is reaching 90 so I don't think it's a dodgy sensor although her coolant expansion tank does need replacing down the line!

How long does it stay on for?

No more than a minute I'd say!

Maybe flush the coolant but I wouldn't worry too much.

I would check the small fan see if it spins freely and actually comes on mine didn't and it sounded like a jumbo jet when the big fan kicked in!
Maybe try to change the coolant temp sensor too they get clogged and give false readings
Hope this helps Luke
