Had a bump yesterday and unfortunately the other driver failed to stop, I managed to get his registration and have reported it but in the meantime I'm trying to weigh up options for the repair as the excess on my policy is quite high. Was only travelling about 5mph but there's a fair bit of damage.
There's damage to the drivers side rear arch and the impact has broken the clips on the rear bumper and forced it off on that side.
Other than the fixings the bumper seems fine - anyone know if they can they be repaired or will I require a whole new bumper?
If not, is the ed30 bumper in 2 parts? So I could just replace the upper?

The rear bumper is in two halfs, top half is the same on all mk5s and the bottom differs between GTI, R32, normal spec etc. You'll only need to replace the half that's damaged.
I've got a top half if that's the bit you need - it's off a car with parking sensors though. And it's in blue. I'm not keen on posting it, it's exactly the kind of thing a courier would damage. But if you're nearby and interested let me know. I'm in South Yorks/North Notts.

Wasn't sure if they were all 2 separate parts as I'd read somewhere the ed30 one was all one piece.
Hopefully the insurance will sort it out but depends if the other driver can be tracked down

theres a possibility of plastic welding the clips back on. but for the effort id say find a 2nd hand bumper in right colour

Thanks for the info, I'm off to the bodyshop tomorrow so will see what they say.
