Post by: scooba on October 16, 2016, 07:17:44 pm
Hi, advice required please,

If I fit a Miltek turbo back sports cat non resonated system to a STD edition 30 would it throw a error code ? . I am sure I read it would some time ago

Probably. Might do it straight away, might take months.

You really want to be getting it mapped after fitting it anyway to get the full power potential. Any decent Stage 2 map will code out the lambda warning too.

I'd hope not too, there's absolutely no reason a cat back would cause any warning lights.

It's when you change the standard cat to a decat or sport cat (as in a turbo back exhaust) that the sensor in the exhaust reads values beyond the range the ECU is expecting and you get the warning light.

if you fit a decat or sports cat it will bring up a dash light.

a catback is fine

Sorry to crash this post, but  I read somewhere that if you fit a sports cat (turbo back)  the only way to "turn off" the CEL  is to go to stage 2.  Is that correct?

There's a way of doing it mechanically rather than via software. Involves fitting a spacer to the lambda sensor or something, but from everything I've read it's far from a guarantee that it'll work.

I don't see any reason why someone with the knowhow couldn't code out the sensor and retain whatever map the car is running on, but it seems a bit pointless when a Stage 2 map does the same thing as well as optimising the map to the new hardware. And it's not just power where you'd benefit, the afr and other parameters will be properly set up.

Thanks.  Stage 2 seems the way to go then.
