Title: Revo map prices
Post by: scooba on October 18, 2016, 01:43:20 pm
Hi ,

Based in Sussex  , where can I get a redo map and what would I have to pay , I would like to fit a milltek turbo back pipe to the ED30 and realise the sports cat will trigger the ecu lamp ( Milltek told me yesterday)

So how much for a suitable map ,I don't want to have silly BHP figures ,I would just like no ecu lights and a modest increase

Thanks in Advance

Hi, just had a stage one on my GTI and it cost £480.80 inc. vat. Nothing else done and no ecu lights on.
Had it done at Quattro-Tech in St Ives Cambridge. BHP is up to 256 and the torque is 386 nm.

Sports cat (200 cell) won't give you an EM light. And it will have the pre cat delete in it too so better flow.

Yes it does give you the EML...eventually

Really? I know 2 people who have had one fitted for about 8 months and no light.

200cel flows more that the stock cat, think its somethin like 600cell or 80cell

If they arent mapped it will come on at some point. maybe they have the o spacers fitted

Got the BCS downpipe, 200 cell cat back... The light came on after about 8 months, Cleared it with the Carista app and still not reappeared...

Nah no spacer fitted lol maybe us 3 are just lucky. But I read only about 2 in 10 people get a light at all. 100 cell up probably would though.

I ran mine with a full Powervalve (200 cell cat) on a Stage 1 map and the warning light took about 4 months to show its face.

Whether it's a decat or sport cat, the principle is the same - increased exhaust flow values that the lambda sensor sends to the ECU and the ECU reads as out of range.

It might happen immediately, it often takes months.

When the light shows, once reset would it take months to come back again? Or a few drives?

Hmmm. Not sure. I had mine in for the Stage 2 map not long after the light came on so I couldn't say.

Put it this way, getting the map revised to Stage 2 was always part of the plan when I got the exhaust fitted. Only reason it took months to get the map was I had to cancel with R-Tech to get an uprated clutch fitted (standard clutch killed by the extra torque of the Powervalve). Hence driving around for months on Stage 1.

I'd try and budget for a Stage 2 map if I was you. Just makes sense. More power, and no warning light.

Yeah I plan on going back to rtech early next year for a few tweeks, gotta get loba pump and look at intercooler.

Or is the standard ed30 cooler okay for 350ish bhp? As we arnt in an exactly warm climate.

I was advised by Steve at Statller that if I wanted to do a k04 conversion on my GTI (also with Loba pump) the standard IC would be fine. Going by that logic then you'd be ok; the ed30 and GTI ICs are the same.

I'm still not 100% sure if I'd benefit much from the likes of a Peron or even S3/mk6 intercooler. I'm sure on a dyno a car will benefit from a bigger one, but out on the road I reckon it's getting enough airflow. It's something I'll discuss with Niki at some point. And probably get a completely different answer to Steve!

I guess it depends on the cars mood then.

Mine came on after 169 miles, then went out a few months later then came back.

I scan it regularly so i know its that and nothing else

It doesn't matter if the light comes on because the rear lambdas don't influence the fuel trims on the TFSI.  It's just a visible warning to let you know your car no longer complies with emissions regulations.  It doesn't reduce the power.

I'm stage 1 and upgraded to an APR dp/sport cat months ago, and the light hasn't come on yet.  I would just ignore it if it did, except MOT time obviously

After I had the BCS Powervalve TBE with sports cat and before the remap I never had an EML. Just had some error on VCDS about exhaust gas flow. I just erased it and later had the ECU remapped to my stage 2+ spec.
